When your name is on the marquis, there is a certain added pressure to make sure everything is perfect. Add in three generations of family, over 70 years of tradition and secret recipes and you have a very unique business requiring innovative managerial skills and excellent business acumen. Monique oversees the entire administration of their three stores and island wide catering operation.
Today, Zorn’s is one of the most widely known catering and takeout restaurants on Long Island, recognized for its home cooked food and commitment to customer service. “A loyal customer once came up to me and said…’You don’t own Zorn’s it belongs to Long Island, it belongs to us’, and I was delighted, because it’s gratifying to know that we mean so much to our community” she says proudly.
After graduating college with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and minors in both Biology and Psychology, Monique rejoined the family business. After working in all aspects from the catering room to the counter to the cashier’s office, she assumed her present position as office manager and director of employee and customer relations and has been loving it for 26 years. Her efforts and expertise have paid off with two additional locations being established in Bellmore and East Meadow.
Monique exemplifies the spirit of generosity and is proud to be a part of a business that gives as much as it can. Known for its corporate giving and commitment to the community, Zorn’s donates food weekly to Island Harvest, has also been deemed “cause champions” for Clean Air New York and by Long Island Transportation Management (LITM) for their efforts in the “Commuter Choice Program”. She is keenly aware of the special requirements it takes to run a small business on Long Island, having had to create and alter existing software and programs to meet the needs of their business.
Monique’s over the top personality and networking have made her an active member in the American Business Associates and the Long Island Association. She is also active in Moxxie, Hauppauge Industrial Association, Execuleaders, Executive Women’s Golf Association and the Huntington, Bethpage, Bellmore and East Meadow Chambers of Commerce.
Dedicated to charity and community organizations, she is chairing The 2010 “Dancing for Kids” hosted by Coalition Against Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN) as well as events for the Northport Veterans Hospital.
Her varied interests include skydiving and over 16 years of International Ballroom Dance competition. She is also very active in the Long Island Corvette Owners Association and has an interest in hand guns and target shooting, as a lifetime member of the Clearmeadow Pistol Club.
Monique always says, “I’m the luckiest person in the world…I love what I do, my co-workers are my family and our customers are amazing. Our name stands for family tradition and quality…I am so fortunate to be a part of that”.
